Africa is the second largest continent in the world. It covers approximately 30,221,000 sq km (11,699,000 sq mi). Its length and breadth are about the same.

Africa is also the most centrally placed continent in the world with both the equator (latitude 0 degrees) and Greenwich meridian (longitude 0 degrees) passing through it.
